Hyatt has announced it will update its World of Hyatt reward programme from May, expanding from three to five redemption levels within each of its existing eight categories.
The award chart will expand to five redemption levels from May — Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper and Top. Changes will be implemented gradually with limited hotels moving a limited number of nights into the Upper and Top categories in 2026 and broader adoption in the years that follow.
Hyatt believes that after five years without an update, the change ensures long-term stability and maintains the programme’s structure rather than fundamentally changing it. Members will also be able to share points digitally while Explorists, Globalists, Lifetime Globalists and World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers will gain early access to award night availability
Laurie Blair, senior vice president, global marketing and loyalty, Hyatt, says: “Our members tell us they value transparency and the ability to plan with confidence. We know change can be difficult, especially in a loyalty program our members care deeply about. This update reinforces our commitment to a published award chart with fixed point thresholds while ensuring World of Hyatt remains strong, sustainable and rewarding for years to come.”
However, critics argue that prices will increase — in some cases up to 67% — with points per night redemption significantly higher than in previous years.
